“Who travels for love finds a thousand miles not longer than one.” ~ Japanese Proverb
Most people only ever see Shinjuku at a run. Its station is the busiest in the world, and the streets around it move accordingly. A Tokyo couple photoshoot here is a chance to slow the city down long enough to see both of its faces in a single walk.
The first face is loud. Crossings that fill and empty on the signal. Taxis in the old livery. And Omoide Yokocho, the lantern alley beside the tracks that grew out of a black market after the war and has never quite agreed to modernise: yakitori smoke, counters the width of a hallway, regulars who have seen it all.
The second is a Tokyo park in Shinjuku in late May, all new green. Japanese has a word for it, shinryoku, the fresh leaves of early summer before the rains arrive. Plane trees, towering conifers, azaleas still out by the pond, and the station only minutes away, completely out of earshot.
We like a session that holds both. Japan is never just scenery for the two of you. It’s where part of your story happened, and the frames should feel like it.

Love the city shots of the couple but the green shades of the gardens is a beautiful backdrop for their stunning photos.
