#celebratesoon

The wedding & events industry has been pretty much completely shutdown. So everyone’s been asking us, while we’re waiting to #celebratesoon, what are you up to?

It has been a hive of production here while we reschedule pretty much our entire year. We’ve also been creating zaps and airtables and streamlining workflows that we’ve always wanted to do and never had the time for. It’s a crazy concept to never have time to do something that’s ultimately going to save you a ton of time. So it was a matter of now or never… and it’s been a whirlwind of creativity which is what we live for.

#celebratesoon
What does covid-19 mean for weddings & celebrations around the world?

So, Japan is still in a State of Emergency until May 31: still under stay at home orders. Once we reopen (#celebratesoon), and it’s the same pretty much globally, events & weddings will be rolled out very slowly and very small. So it’ll be a long while before our celebrations are back and weddings are full scale again. Safety first and foremost, always.

However, these days in the studio working on ideas and productivity hacks, communicating with venues and our amazing clients, planning what the next 18 months is going to look like, all while navigating the strains that all small businesses affected are under. It’s been a time of real reflection and great progress. It’s hard to explain but I know everyone seems to be talking about it. While the pressures of maneuvering and understanding what the best course of action has been for us, it’s given us a perspective and almost… a kind of calm. Is that even possible in this time of chaos?

Besides sporting some wild lockdown hair and maybe having a few too many zoom quarantinis with friends, we’ve been looking after ourselves and in many ways our business too, in much better ways than before this all started. And we really are embracing the hope as well as working out the pivots we need to #celebratesoon .

So here we are. What a crazy, crazy time we live in. And as always, it’s a matter of working out how we’re going to learn and apply. What will covid-19 mean for wedding, planning and weddings over the next 5 years? Will we need to change and what will we have to change? What will it mean for wedding photography? What will it mean for celebrations all over the world? We’re working on it. Let’s see how love moves forward.

Love and hugs from us here in Tokyo xo
