“There’s only one thing I need….The rest is just details.” ~ Love Unscripted
Intimate. Beautifully real. And not one but 2 fabulous receptions. This wedding was all about celebrating and being present. Sharing a love story spanning continents & cultures with family and treasured friends. In the Bride’s simply sublime new restaurant, Bépocah Cocina Peruana in Harajuku, featuring THE most divine Peruvian food. Haruko & Martin had us at the exterior…seriously that yellow wall…stunning…A wedding fused with dazzling color, light and all those taste sensations…as delicious, if not more so, than they looked. It couldn’t be anymore us. It was a joy from start to the finish and just as relaxed. Doing away with over formality in favor of being themselves and everyone just enjoying every single extraordinary moment. It was their style from the get-go. And hugs galore. So you just know we loved it…June couldn’t come fast enough.
From Haruko’s quiet getting ready we were hooked. She has us at the Jimmy Choos. Then her sweet dress was just so her, delicate, simple, perfect. The getting ready always a favorite start to the day.
We then made the dash across town to the lovely Kulturheim Church for the ceremony. The moments leading up to it a whirlwind, the ceremony itself heartfelt and finally making everything officially official.
We had a little time afterwards for casual photos in possibly our favorite garden in all of Tokyo. We could honestly photograph in the backyard of the Church all day. Love.
And then with the “proper” part of the day done it was time for the main event(s). The receptions. The heart the day. And to Bépocah we all went. And it was truly a blast. This was some Peruvian affair. The laughter & happiness still echoing, as well as the appreciation for all the amazing work of Bruno & the Bépocah team for expediting such an incredible feast. Part 1- a spectacular course menu, and Part 2 – a cocktail, stand-up style celebration. Foodie heaven. Between parties we had a little time in photos to take the day in, celebrate the successes of opening the restaurant in March and for Martin & Haruko to just be together. Upstairs, downstairs, inside & out. This was some start to a life together. As the sun went down and Tokyo came to life by the night, the 2nd party started. Delightfully unscripted. From toasts, to the fantastic bouquet pull, to the most awesome band. With a surprise song by the groom & friends. There was dancing on the stairs, a quick boys break outside, all that incredible eye candy & deliciousness from the Bépocah kitchen, a showstopping DVD, THAT KISS & EMBRACE and all those Peruvian cocktails flying out from behind the bar. And it didn’t stop till the Bride & Groom collapsed in laughter & love at the end. The only way to end a party and signal all to come…The highlights…
Haruko & Martin, thank you, thank you, thank you for including us in your spectacular day. It was such a privilege to be part of documenting your beautiful story. It unfolded flawlessly…We are now dedicated Bépocah aficionados… For life. With the rest of the world once they discover you. You are stuck with us. And we cannot wait to see you again & again & again…
With love, Dee & Trace x x
